Introducing Reef AL Arancio – Silver Cross’ breathtaking collaboration with Automobili Lamborghini


Two iconic brands, one extraordinary vision. Reef AL Arancio marks a new era of super strollers. With high-performance fabrics, faceted surfaces and striking gloss Arancio colour accents with contrasting matte metallic black structures, Reef AL Arancio is born to perform.

The Edit speaks to Silver Cross’ Design Managers, Helen Smith (Fabric) and Luke Mallinder (Hardware) on the inspiration and story behind our most exclusive collaboration to date.


How did the Automobili Lamborghini x Silver Cross collaboration emerge?


Since the debut of its first sports car in 1964, Automobili Lamborghini has been at the forefront of automotive excellence, becoming a global icon synonymous with unparalleled craftsmanship, precision engineering and a commitment to bold authenticity that is recognized around the world.

Automobili Lamborghini’s exclusive collaborations seamlessly fuse the brand’s core pillars – Brave, Unexpected, Authentic – across diverse industries of sport, music, fashion, and now, for the first time, nursery.

In an extraordinary partnership, Automobili Lamborghini joined forces with Silver Cross, the world’s leading nursery brand, to create a super stroller that embodies the authentic DNA of two icons.

 

What was the vision for Reef AL Arancio?

A vision of luxury and legacy, Reef AL Arancio is designed for parents chasing the unexpected. It’s an extension of the customer’s lifestyle, where every possession – from their car to their stroller – makes a statement.

By combining Silver Cross’ unprecedented authority in nursery innovation with the iconic intricacies of Automobili Lamborghini design, a super stroller is born. A hybrid of high-performance detailing and meticulous engineering, this collection is bold and brave, going above and beyond the expectation of any nursery collaboration.

Totally exclusive, Reef AL Arancio is strictly limited worldwide, with only 500 available globally.

The collaboration between Automobili Lamborghini and Silver Cross was a highly creative and collaborative project. Could you take us through the design process?


The collaboration between Automobili Lamborghini and Silver Cross was a meticulous process, taking over two years from initial concept to product delivery.

 

Initial concepts and brand immersion


Our first presentation to Automobili Lamborghini took place in November 2022 at the Lamborghini factory in Sant’ Agata, Italy. We met representatives from the design and licensing teams and delved into the brand’s history, values and DNA. We presented our initial thinking and ideas, setting the mood and tone for the collaboration. The aim was to closely align the values and essence of both brands – a commitment to
high performance, exclusivity and design excellence.

Product development


Following this inspiring visit, 2023 marked the concept development phase of the process, and allowed us to immerse ourselves into the world of high-end, exclusive automobiles. We visited Lamborghini showrooms to get a taste of the customer experience and expectations, as well as to gain further inspiration and reference for the exquisite detailing found in Lamborghini vehicles.

The reveal


By June 2024, we were ready to present the first sample of Reef AL Arancio. This was a pivotal moment, as we unveiled the product alongside a comprehensive marketing strategy, detailing the global vision for the collection. The debut sample was a testament to the months of detailed research, intricate craftsmanship and dedication of the Silver Cross design team.

Tell us about Reef AL Arancio’s identity


From the outset, it was important for us to draw inspiration from the breathtaking styling and surfacing which make Lamborghini vehicles so unique. We wanted the fabrics and hardware to integrate seamlessly and used bespoke structures to mirror the intricacy and faceted nature of the vehicles.

This, combined with the tactile surface textures and high-quality materials creates a unique, strong identity and emotive connection between the brands.

The touchpoints and detailing throughout Reef AL Arancio draw direct inspiration from Lamborghini, as well as our own experience in creating premium infant travel solutions.
